Star-plugging wisdom

In Myanmar, the concept of ‘Phon' (ဘုန်း) symbolizes the inner strength of a wise man. That restricts men from passing under a hanging Sarong or touching menstrual blood, as these acts are thought to weaken their strength or 'Phon.' Zoncy rewrites a traditional proverb of 'Phon' that says, 'a great, wise man can even plug a star' in the sky by replacing 'woman' with 'man' to promote gender equality and human qualities. She illustrates the proverb with a three-finger salute, the Myanmar Spring Revolution's protest symbol, to offer hope for gender equality and humanity globally.
