This mixed media painting series probes the profound visual traumas the artist has faced due to Myanmar's ongoing political turmoil. Since the military coup in 2021, relentless airstrikes have ravaged villages, schools, and sanctuaries, systematically obliterating lives and landscapes.
The artwork examines the stark contrast between Myanmar's poetic title, "The Golden Land," and the grim reality of a nation and its citizens being reduced to ashes. Employing layers of paint, charred textures, and the scorched patterns of rice paddies, the pieces intertwine abstract forms to evoke the shattered memories of a homeland under siege. Each artwork confronts and transforms the harrowing imagery of destruction into a visual narrative that demands the viewer's engagement, illuminating both the brutality endured and the resilience exhibited by the people.
