Unknown Women

2009

Live Art, Nippon International Performance Art Festival, Tokyo

In rural Myanmar, women are often silenced by tradition and their vulnerable positions, making them targets not only for sexual violations but also for issues of power and control.

"Unknown Women," the first installment in a series, aims to bring visibility to those suffering from injustices they do not deserve and have never caused.

It highlights the bodies and voices that society tends to ignore, challenging societal norms, impunity, and victim-blaming. The work explores the nuances between being exposed and covered, shedding light on the harsh realities these women face.
